The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania passed the Clean Slate 3.0 law on December 13, 2023. This expanded the ability for someone's record to be sealed or expunged in Pa.
Expungements are incredibly rare in Pa. Only certain situations quality for expungement. Non-Convictions (Example ARD) and Summary Convictions (with no arrests in the past 5 years) can be expunged.
Record Sealing (Limited Access) however has many charges that can be sealed. Some Felony Convictions can be sealed after 10 years and many misdemeanor convictions can be sealed after 7 years. A sealed record cannot be seen on most background checks (except FBI).
